PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Hydroseeding, also known as 'hydromulching' is a fast, efficient, and economical process of applying seed to either good or poor quality areas. It is frequently used for new turf installation, mining rehabilitation, and for seeding inaccessible, low fertility soil and slopes. While grasses are most commonly hydroseeded, notably wildflowers are also hydroseeded.
The purpose of hydroseeding is twofold:
- To improve seed germination and plant establishment
- To slow or reduce erosion.
|
The basic process involves mixing mulch, water, seed and fertiliser, into the tank of a hydromulch machine. The mixed slurry is pumped from the tank and sprayed evenly onto the ground.
SOLUTION
The mulch, with its fibrous texture and basic water-holding nature, can significantly reduce soil erosion. But the effectiveness and strength of the mulch can be greatly enhanced by using a tackifier.
HYDROMULCH TACKIFIER acts like a 'glue' that binds together the various components of the hydromulch and 'sticks' it to the soil. HYDROMULCH TACKIFIER is a linear polyacrylamidetackifier, often called ‘PAM’ for short.
HYDROMULCH TACKIFIER being a water-soluble polymer increases the ‘thickness’ of the slurry, reduces splashing, and binds the seed and mulch together. HYDROMULCH TACKIFIER is effective in reducing erosion even when used alone as a soil treatment.
In such applications, HYDROMULCH TACKIFIER soaks into the soil and binds together tiny soil particles, creating aggregates. Rates of erosion are measurably reduced. The effect is temporary, since HYDROMULCH TACKIFIER actually breaks down in weeks due to sunlight and other environmental conditions.
Temporary erosion reduction is enough for hydromulch, since the plants will soon take over the job of erosion control as they penetrate and hold the soil with their roots.
